If you’re looking for talent that comes from north of the border, Canadian celebrities are always crushing it.

From Simu Liu becoming a real Marvel superhero to Ryan Reynolds in the new Netflix movie The Adam Projectit’s always nice to see Canadian representation in Hollywood.

Most people know these guys — and people like Celine Dion, Seth Rogen and Mike Myers — are Canadian, but there are a few other people you probably didn’t know were from the Great White North.

Matthew Perry

Yes, it’s true ! Friends Icon Matthew Perry grew up in Ottawa, according to CBC, and he apparently even once got into a fight with someone who later turned out to be a Canadian prime minister.

In a 2017 interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Perry said he beat up Justin Trudeau when they were kids, which is kind of crazy considering Pierre Trudeau was prime minister at the time!

Hollywood star Keanu Reeves grew up in Yorkville and was recently inducted onto Canada’s Walk of Fame, where he shared some memories of his early days in the Toronto area.

“I went to Jesse Ketchum Public School for second grade, and so began a wonderful journey of growth – of friendships and adventures, of teachers, of coaches, of mentors – in one place, in a city, in a culture that I am eternally grateful for,” he said in December.

Cobie Smulders was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, according to Macleans, and she hilariously worked the Canuck angle into her character on how I Met Your Mother in his over-the-top performance as Robin Sparkles.

She also starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Maria Hill. Pretty cool, huh?
