As pandemic subsides, celebrities buy multi-crore apartments in Mumbai
Several Indian celebrities have purchased properties worth millions in different parts of Mumbai over the past few months. The latest addition to the list, which features names like Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, is Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri.
Dixit-Nene bought a house worth Rs 48 crore from Indiabulls Blu located in Worli. Agnihotri has bought an apartment worth Rs 17.9 crore from Versova.
Dixit-Nene’s home is 5,384 square feet and offers views of the Arabian Sea and Mahalaxmi Racecourse, according to a report in Economic Period (ET). The deal, at Rs 90,000 per square foot, is among the list of biggest residential apartment deals in 2022.
Dixit-Nene reportedly paid Rs 2.4 crore as stamp duty for the recording. Women are getting a 1% stamp duty concession under new rules announced by the Maharashtra government. It will have access to 7 parking spaces.
Agnihotri bought the house with his wife, actress Pallavi Joshi. It spans 3,258 square feet. The value per square foot is over Rs 55,000.
The due would have paid Rs 1.07 crore as stamp duty on the apartment. They will have access to three parking spaces.
In September, the chairman and chief executive of pharmaceutical company Eris Lifesciences, Amit Bakshi, also bought a luxury apartment in Worli for Rs 61 crore. Its value per square foot was around Rs 94,500.
A previous report from Economic Period (ET) said demand for luxury homes had plummeted during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. However, now that foreclosure restrictions have been lifted, luxury property rentals have increased by almost 60% in parts of India.
