CLN Music Mondays: New from Curtis Grimes
Curtis Grimes was a bright young man when he arrived at Centenary College in Louisiana on a baseball scholarship as a pitcher. After a baseball-filled childhood, signing early and declaring his junior year, one could confidently assume how his current resume would read.

But here’s what he actually says. Eleven No.1 singles on the Texas radio charts, a No.1 hit song on the Power Source Country Christian charts, over 30 million streams on Spotify and awards that have accrued over the years, including “New Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Male Singer of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” and “Christian Country Song of the Year,” twice, at the Texas Regional Radio Awards. It’s pretty amazing that at one point baseball was all that mattered. The music was not even in the picture. The night that will put him on the path to music for good came in 2008 when he won a battle of the bands competition at Stubbs in Austin. The price? A 15 minute opening spot for the Kenny Chesney / LeAnn Rimes tour. It was a deal done after that; another musical wonder was born.
Grimes has celebrated several album releases over the years. In 2012 he released âLive From The Parishâ and the single âHome To Meâ was picked up by Supercuts for a national commercial with an acting cameo from Grimes. His debut studio album âOur Side Of The Fenceâ in 2014 brought Grimes his first No. 1 single in Texas with âThe Cowboy Kindâ.
Since then, he has followed in eleven other # 1s, including four from his latest album “Undeniably Country”. His latest acoustic EP “Acoustic Collection” features “Cowboy Constitution”, a reflection on the true heart, soul and spirit of our true cowboys. The song is Grimes’ tribute to the men and women who walk and talk. His forthcoming new album is slated for release in the summer of 2021. Curtis Grimes’ music is a 100% local country, steeped in southern values ââand Christian charity.
