Find Fashion Trends at RM – The Tide

You can learn a lot about someone from their clothes, but is it fair to judge the “book” by their clothes? At RM, there are over 2,000 different personalities, each expressing themselves in a unique way through fashion. In a fast fashion world, clothes are an integral part of pop culture and the way people interact with each other.

Second-year student Natalia Evans agreed. “There are a lot of stylish perspectives these people come from and it seems the people at RM aren’t afraid to be themselves. However, because of that, there are definitely issues because people feel pressured to shop in certain places, places that are certainly not very ethical, ”she said. “It’s great to be interested in fashion, but be aware of what you’re doing and respect what you think is morally right. “

Despite the very hard impact it has on our environment, fast fashion is everywhere: Tik Tok, TV series, Instagram and especially Pinterest. Throughout the forties and 2021 we have seen many different trends emerge, offering something for everyone. To get us out of the dark mood of our forties, artistic and floral motifs are back, with large light patterns.

More famously, the fashion trends of the 90s have made a comeback: baggy jeans, crazy sleeves, scrunchies and daring chains. However, with the increase of social media and the spread of information, several new looks have appeared on the popular list. There have been many new style “genres” – streetwear, indie, cottage core, and juicy couture – all of which are unique and enjoyable in their own way.

Tik Tok-inspired indie style includes retro hipster clothing, very similar to streetwear and often worn by people who enjoy less traditional things and listen to indie music. The independent style usually includes baggy jeans and a single shirt, paired with chains and skate shoes. This bandage is very popular in urban places like New York and on social media platforms like TikTok. Some celebrities known to wear this style include Billie Eilish and Chase Hudson.

Similar to indie, streetwear is also very common for college students because it is comfortable, expressive, and laid back. This style has so many different aspects including everything from blazers to baseball caps and chunky sneakers. Many celebrities have changed their style and started to adapt to this more casual yet professional look. Everyone from pop singers like Rihanna to soccer players like Patrick Maholmes to RM students can be seen with this on-trend look. The mix of khakis and a blazer with chunky sneakers and sunglasses accentuates its fun aspect on business casual.

More common in the summer, the all-time favorite cottage core is making a comeback as a puffy look in soft color. Paired with tall, stiff boots and cool hats, flowy babydoll dresses are just as popular as other styles. Also hailing from Pinterest and heading to TikTok, this look is perfect for hosting picnics on the meadow and baking a rosemary focaccia. Paired with consuming cakes in wine glasses and retreats to the countryside, this aesthetic is the perfect escape to whimsy.

The most recent addition to current styles is my favorite, the look from the early 2000s. Modeled by some of our iconic predecessors, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Beyonce, this look is filled with velor tracksuits and funky caps. This style is not just about clothes, but the whole set: flip phones, frosted lip gloss, jelly bracelets and more. All of these embody well-known 2000s superstars like Reese Witherspoon from Distraught and Lindsay Lohan from Bad girls. They are most remembered wearing the iconic pink tracksuits from Juicy Couture and low rise jeans with rhinestone pockets.

The 2000s are the last decade we have returned to and they have their fair share of borrowing from popular styles from the 1990s and 1980s. Although the trend is relatively new, many people can be seen wearing the equivalent of the scrunchie. 2000s, butterfly clamps and claws. The 2000s comeback has arrived and it looks like it will be a big hit.

Everyone at RM, including students, teachers, and other staff, has their own unique fashion style. Although clothing is a common and everyday thing, each person’s clothes tell a story and provide insight into their personality through their personal expression with fashion.
