Harry and Meghan on Oprah: celebrities react to the interview
The televised event, which aired in the United States on CBS on Sunday, March 7, saw the couple give their first sitting interview since stepping down as senior royals.
During the interview, they spoke at length about their mental health issues, racism and their relationship with the palace.
In a series of startling revelations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the palace of fostering an atmosphere of hostility which reached a point where Markle was considering suicide. “I was ashamed to say it back then… I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. Markle also claimed that a member of the royal family had raised concerns about the ‘dark color’ of their son Archie’s skin when he was born.
Prince Harry has explained how he truly felt ‘disappointed’ with Prince Charles as he yearned for public support from his family, especially at a time when his wife faced scrutiny in the British tabloids.
In a moment of joy, the couple revealed they are due to welcome a baby girl later in the summer.
Reacting to the program, Bring it on The Union star tweeted: “Tabloids are HOSTED by the palace?!?!?!?!?! OUF. ”
She also retweeted messages of support for Markle and tweets comparing Markle’s treatment by the press to that of the late Princess Diana.
