Oscars 2022: South Asian celebrities who attended Priyanka Chopra’s pre-Oscars event
Guests of honor at the event were Riz Ahmed, Suroosh Alvi, Pawo Choyning Dorji, Joseph Patel, Aneil Karia, Elizabeth Mirzaei, Gulistan Mirzaei, Rintu Thomas, Sushmit Ghosh and Anurima Bhargava, among others. Thomas and Ghosh are the co-directors of write with firewhich is the first full-length Indian documentary to be shortlisted for the Oscars.
Chopra gave a powerful speech at the event which is widely shared on social media. Recalling her beginnings in the West, the actress recounted an incident with actor Aziz Ansari at a Golden Globes party.

“When I came here 10 years ago and started looking for work in America, I remember I was at a Golden Globes party and Aziz Ansari and I met at an after party and it was just him and me and we wanted to count how many brown people were in the room and it was just us and you know it was awesome we congratulated each other we congratulated each other encouraged and we went out and met everyone” said the Baywatch star.
“But today, I am not someone else. Today, I stand among my peers, among my colleagues, among South Asian excellence. And I have goosebumps, I I’m emotional, it makes me very proud.” added the 39-year-old.
Chopra made her Hollywood debut in Quanticofollowed by Baywatch and a few other movies. She will then be seen as the lead in romantic drama text for you.
