Celebrity’s female crew to reunite via Facebook
The all-female crew were assembled to mark International Women’s Day last year and will come together via the line’s Facebook Watch Party at 5 p.m. (GMT) today (March 8).
They will gather virtually in homes around the world and directly aboard the Celebrity Edge stationed in the Bahamas.
They will include Captain Kate McCue, America’s first female cruise ship captain, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, the first female President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, and Chief Executive Officer Rachel Arnold of Bristol.
The women will be joined by Director of Guest Relations Julie Sherrington and Director of Cruise Sue Denning, both from the UK.
“Making history with these women has been quite extraordinary for our industry and an honor for me. It was a dream come true for all of us, ”said Lutoff-Perlo.
“Our mantra has been to use this time away from the water to come back stronger than ever and bringing these incredible pioneers together is a sign of that. Together, we will continue to navigate beyond conventional thought and wisdom to a new world of opportunity. ”
Globally, only 2% of sailors are women, but Celebrity Cruises has increased the number of women on its bridge teams from 3% to 28%.
